Slashers, kung fu, goblins, show downs, wizards, psychokinesis, things that go bump in the night, and a rowdy bunch of drunk trailer trash...Oh my.
I have now officially made it into the ranks of published RPG authors. My peers should be afraid, very afraid.
ROLF! Christmas Chaos is up and on sale at DriveThruRPG.
Unlike all the other gifts you bought loved ones for Christmas, this one is not excessively overpriced, coming in at $0.75. Yes, you too can own this piece of history!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!
In the next 2 weeks we will be conducting more internal testing of what is to be our first publication (as well as testing mechanics for 4-5 upcoming projects). Should everything go as well as intended, we should be announcing this first title, and sharing portions of it with you over the next few months as we work to finish it up. We'll also be opening it up to more testers.
Should the testing go poorly, on the other hand, I will most likely be being flogged.
I guess either way, people have something to look forward to.
I'd say it may have been as much as 28 years ago, while at my fellow gamer's grandmother's home that I realized something, you won't always have those polyhedral dice laying about. And when you're bored, and want to game, it can really put you off.
Somewhere in a brain cell (one I didn't kill) that information stuck. I know that for a fact because every design that's evolved in my head so far utilizes only 6-sided dice or other items that could very well be in anyone's grandmother's home.
So if you grab a game from Creepy Doll, and can't make use of your gorgeous Chessex masterpieces, I am sorry. I have a set too, and they stare at me while I'm testing mechanics. It's kinda spooky.
It looks as though my career of being a published Game Designer will start with ROLF! Christmas Chaos due out, I believe by this Christmas. I wrote up some Characters, Traits, Spells, Combat Maneuvers and Battle Scenarios for it.
For those that don't know (I imagine there are still a few of you) what ROLF! The Rollplaying Game of Big Dumb Fighters is, it's a simple, silly system where the objective is to beat the everlovin' crude out of the other player.
ROLF! is from NEULOW games. Designed by Steve Miller (formerly of West End Games, TSR and a few other bankrupt RPG publishers) and L.L. Hundal (formerly of nowhere, because she's much too smart to enter game design on a professional level), this is the perfect game to pass the time while waiting for late-comers to arrive for the RPG session... or while you've been kicked out of the room, because the GM and another player or two are engaged in some secretive, story-based roleplaying nonsense.
ROLF! The Rollplaying Game of Big Dumb Fighters can be purchased at DriveThruRPG for a bank breaking $1.50. I will post links for Christmas Chaos as they become available.
